Our U13's defeated Drumhowan on Saturday last 4-7 to 3-9 to win the Shield final in terrible weather in Cremartin. A late Jamie Fannin strike (his fourth goal of the game) ensured Tyholland took home the trophy. Tyholland opened their scoring with a goal from Jamie Fannin and this was followed by some excellent free taking by the brilliant Jamie Smith (3), a Conor Rice point and a goal and a point from Jamie Fannin to give Tyholland a 2-5 to 1-4 lead at the break. Tyholland fell behind at the beginning of the 2nd half but restored their lead with a point each from Kevin Hughes and Aaron Maxwell and a 3rd goal from Jamie Fannin. Drumhowan again took the lead into the dying minutes before Jamie Fannin fired home his 4th goal of the game to give Tyholland the win. There were also notable performances from captains Matthew Gillanders (gk) and Daragh Treanor, Gerard Treanor, Joseph Caulfield, Shane Dooley and Gareth Finnan. Credit must also go to the team management of Sean Treanor, Kevin Kavanagh and Barry Farrelly. |

The U14's reached the final of the League with a massive win over Eire Og last Saturday. Tyholland raced into an 8 point lead with some super scores from Darren Gallagher and Jonathan McKenna and Mel Boyce. 2 goals in as many minutes at start of the 2nd half from Darren Gallagher and Johnathan McKenna increased the margin to 11 points.
Mel Boyce added a 3rd goal and Jonathan McKenna finished things off with a ronaldo-esque curled effort that flew into the top corner. Tyholland had solid performances all over the pitch with Dara and Gerard Treanor and Ryan McKenna solid in defence. Mel Boyce and Aaron Maxwell commanding the middle, while up front, Darren Gallagher and Jonathan McKenna were ably assisted by the hard working Kevin Hughes and Matthew Mohan. Tyholland play Cremartin in the final on July 5th at 4pm in Monaghan. |
